yes, but i think that there are still colonies. If not then why are they not? PATRICIA 72 Yes, but they are not colonies anymore, the 13 colonies are now known as the united states, but some people still know it a "New England". SARAH 71
The thirteen colonies pretty much correspond with modern states in the United States and these 13 formed the first territories that became the USA. In the USA, states are like our provinces. If Ontario was in America, it would be called a state, not a province. So, for example, Massachusetts was one of the 13 colonies. It is now one of the 50 American states. Mr. Hughey 71 and 72!
